The Emirates Golf Club boasts two championship courses but it is the Majlis that, as well as playing host to The Dubai Desert Classic, has been dubbed "The Desert Miracle", and attracts countless golfers to Dubai each and every year.
Needless to say, plenty of construction went into carving this magnificent course out of the barren desert landscape from which Dubai has emerged. Stretching to a total yardage of 7,301 yards from the championship tees, the Majlis is a demanding course, the hallmarks of which include include numerous salt and freshwater lakes that come into play on several holes, as well as large, fast putting surfaces of the very highest quality. As well as the giant waste bunkers and water hazards, the super-slick greens are one of the course's main defences.
Seemingly though, that is still not enough to stop the world's best players in their tracks, with an average winning score of -16 since the event's inception in 1989 proving just how good these guys are. Expect to see plenty of birdies and eagles during your time in Dubai!

Dubai is the perfect place for a sunshine break with a hot desert climate where temperatures can reach up to 30°C. In February, the average temperature is 20°C with sunshine duration of 8 hours day; definitely warm enough getting the shorts out on the fairways. There is only a 16% chance of precipitation over the course of the month, and the most likely chance of rain is around the end of the month. Luckily the tournament will be finished way before the end of the month.
The Emirates Golf Club is located only 30 minutes from Dubai International Airport (DXB). Dubai is one of the most accessible airports in the world with a host of direct flight options available. In The UK, there are direct flights to Dubai from major UK cities from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow (Approx 7hrs).
When travelling abroad to play golf, there is often the added cost of golf club carriage. Not to worry, travelling to Dubai with Virgin Atlantic offers passengers the fantastic perk of complimentary golf club allowance in addition to the free baggage allowance. While, Emirates Airlines offer passengers a 30 kg allowance which can include a set of golf clubs.
